Introducing the newest Seiko 5 Sports limited edition model in collaboration with Japan’s leader skateboarder Yuto Horigome.
Yuto Horigome was influenced by his Father’s legacy and started skateboarding at the age of six. He has been skating vertical ramps since he was a child, and has been in the top ranks of domestic competitions throughout his teens. After he graduated high school, he took his career to the next level and moved to the US, where his talent only skyrocketed. Within a year of his 2017 debut in Street League Skateboarding (SLS), he won first place in three 2018 SLS stops, making him one of the top skateboarders in the world. After a successful 2019, and suspended competitions throughout the pandemic, in 2021 he won the World Championship for the first time.
This special limited edition model was hand created by Yuto Horigome. He selected the colours, materials, finishes and graphics to make the customised watch completely his. This is the first time that a SKX series adorns a ‘camouflage pattern’ on the dial. The pattern is not an ordinary camouflage look though, it is created with a radiating finish on the dial and is combined with three-dimensional stamped patterns to create the highly textured look - taking camo to the next level. The dial is still quite subtle, with a black and grey dual tone. On the back of the base is Yuto Horigome’s very own signature alongside the words ‘Limited Edition’ with a clear window that lets you see the intricate mechanisms inside.
Yuto has combined his personal design preferences with sports people in mind, and the black silicone strap is perfect for sports activities. Complete with Lumibrite paint on the hands and hour markers, this watch has legibility in low lighting, so you can take on your biggest adventures. The watch also features a handy day and date window.
The Seiko 5 watch is powered by automatic movement that is charged by the movement of the wearer, one of the most popular and reliable watch movements. The 4R36 calibre has 24 jewels and beats at 21,600 beats per hour, ensuring over 41 hours of power reserve. It has clockwise winding direction and includes a Seiko Diashock anti-shock system and an Etachron regulator.
