Professional Care Plans

The Shiels Jewellers' Care Plan has been designed to keep your valued purchases in pristine condition for a lifetime. The Plan offers you assurance of future protection for your jewellery purchase. A Jewellery Care Plan can be either a 3 Year or a Lifetime package.

Can I Purchase the Shiels Jewellers Care Plan?

You are entitled to purchase the Jewellery Care Plan at the point and time of purchase in any Shiels store. Just choose from either our 3 Year Plan or Lifetime Plan, complete the form and leave the rest to us. Proof of purchase, your Jewellery Care Plan and docket receipt will need to be presented each time you want your jewellery inspected or maintained.

The Shiels Jewellery Care Plan covers the following maintenance for your purchase:

  • Refinishing and Polishing
  • Tightening Stone Settings
  • Re-tipping prongs through normal wear and tear
  • Plating White Gold with rhodium
  • (once every 12 months)
  • Ring sizing (Limited)*
  • Chain and Bracelet Repair through Wear & Tear
  • Inspection, Cleaning & Resetting of stones

*Resizing of rings purchased for less than $100 are not included. Not all styles of rings are suitable for resizing and are excluded from the services under this Care Plan.

Parts and labour cost for the specified services, up to the value of the original purchase price. Damage from normal wear and tear, for example cosmetic or incidental damage is not covered. The Plan includes inspections, ring cleaning and sizing up to three sizes but may exclude some styles deemed not to be able to be resized by our Master Jeweller. Re-tipping of prongs, stone tightening, polishing, cleaning, inspections and Rhodium Plating white gold once every 12 months is covered.

The Shiels Jewellery Care Plan does not cover the following:

  • Cosmetic Damage or Incidental Damage
  • Accidental damage caused by customer
  • Accidental or deliberate damage caused by misuse
  • Unauthorised Repairs or alterations carried out by a third party will VOID the Care Plan
  • Service & Parts costing more than the purchase price of the item
  • Loss of stones (unless caused by a defect in workmanship and or materials)
  • Flaws in gems or diamonds
  • Cosmetics damage including scratches

(1) Accidental, incidental, abuse, misuse or deliberate damage. (2) Alterations, repairs or modifications carried out by a third party other than Shiels Jewellers will VOID this Plan.(3) Third party actions such as fire, collision, vandalism, theft, acts of God, War invasions or act of foreign enemy, or loss of use while services are being provided. (4) Natural flaws in diamonds or gemstones. (5) Loss of diamond or gemstone or any other part of the covered product unless such a loss is deemed to have resulted due to defect in workmanship and /or materials. (6) Does not cover Re-shanking of rings. (7) Postage and Handling is not included in the Care Plan or any Insurance covering loss through postage. (8) Watches, Pearl Bracelets or Chains and Stainless Steel jewellery are not covered under the Care Plan.

Terms & Conditions

This legal contract (which will be referred to hereinafter as the “Plan”) is for specific services which are outlined and is not a contract for Insurance. By signing this document you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set out in this Plan. The legal entity obligated under this Plan is:

Instructions, Caution or Warning

You must produce the original Plan and a copy of the original sales docket in order to claim a service under the Plan, this is an essential condition please place the Plan and sales docket in a safe place. In order to obtain services under the Plan you must produce the item covered by the Plan. Unauthorised modification and repairs are not covered under the Care Plan.

Australian Consumer Laws

The additional services provided under this Plan do not limit in any way your existing rights under Australian Consumer Law irrespective of the country you may reside in. The consumer is well protected under Australian Consumer Laws and for full and comprehensive entitlements go to www.cbs.sa.gov.au or refer to your own state’s website.

Terms of Coverage

The Plan begins on the date of purchase, which must be at the point and time of the original purchase and continues for 3 years or lifetime depending on the Plan chosen. The Plan applies only to the purchaser of the Plan or the first person which the item has been gifted to and has been recorded below. The Plan then is limited to lifetime of the purchaser or the first gifted person of the purchaser.

Product Lifetime

Means reasonable lifetime of the product. All liability under this Plan ceases at the point where the product is altered from its original form as described in the docket receipt valuation or certificate of authenticity.

Limit of Liability

Our total liability (aggregated) under the Plan is the original purchase price paid for the product. In the event that the total equivalent retail value of the authorised repairs and services claimed equal or exceeds the purchase price of the product or that the original product is repaired with equal or greater value all obligations under the Plan are deemed to be satisfied and no further service may be claimed.

Owners Lifetime

Is the lifetime of the individual purchasing the product or the lifetime of the first person the product is gifted to. The Plan is non-transferable. The receipt must state clearly the name of the first person who received the item as a gift. Photo identification may be required under the Plan as proof of ownership .
